Prayer can think of as one formal conversation with the Creator God - to some, it feels like we need to word properly in front of a formal, serious God. If not, God might not be pleased with us and therefore our prayer requests won't be granted. Is our Creator God full of love and understanding? Wouldn't he the one who created us know us in and out already? Is our prayer supposed to sound pleasing to God so that God would answer our prayers willingly? What is Prayer supposed to be like?
If prayer is more like a casual conversation with friends - don't we all have some friends to talk to? Why do we need to spend private time to talk to God then? We can talk to our friends online nowadays, just way too easy and convenient than in time past. We don't need to go and visit someone, just Whatsapp the person will do. We don't need to talk privately like in a private room, but we can talk to our friends publicly.
Yes, we can understand prayer similar to what we understand having a casual conversation with our dear friends - spending some decent and quality time with our loved ones or close relatives, brothers or sisters, etc. We don't need to pretend anything in front of us, we can show them who we really are, would that be you are a straight to the point person, a very slow to learn person. Well, whoever you might be, you don't need to worry a thing when you come to talk to the person that has known you for years. And that would be the SAME feeling when we talk to God in prayer. We do not need to worry a thing when we talk to God, we don't need to pretend someone we are not in front of our Creator God. God created you and me. He already knows what we are like, inside and out. Even when we pretended to be someone, He knows already.
We shall come to God WITHOUT pretense or fear.
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. [Hebrews 4:16 NIV]
Come to God in prayer -- spending quality time with your Creator God today.
Whatever you say in your prayer, God knows! In whatever tone you use to talk to God, just doesn't really matter. What matters is that God would love to hear from you today. Share your heart out to God, for God cares.
